A Personificação dos Verbos Auxiliares

Durante algum tempo pensei em como fazer com que os meus alunos entendessem melhor os verbos auxiliares. Muitos deles usavam de maneira inadequada ou esqueciam de usa-lo quando necessário. Então criei A Personificação dos Verbos Auxiliares. I hope you enjoy!

Will - (verbo auxiliar utilizado no futuro simples)

O Will é um grande amigo meu, sempre muito útil e repleto de informações. O Will é um cara muito ligado em tecnologia, seu celular é de última geração. Ele é fascinado por filmes que preveem o futuro, ex: 2012, O dia depois de amanhã e outros do gênero. Para ele o passado é uma coisa sem valor. O Will costuma sempre dizer que "O que passou, passou, eu quero saber é o que virá!". O will tem interesse por tudo aquilo que se relaciona com o futuro, gosta de pensar como será a humanidade e o mundo nos próximos anos. Sua casa é toda tecnológica. A energia é solar e ele reaproveita a água das chuvas porque sabe que o desperdicio de água deve acabar o quanto antes senão o futuro não será tão bom como ele imagina. Seu notebook não tem teclado pois é todo em touch screen. O will adora fazer discursos para seus amigos sobre o futuro e quando faz suas afirmações costuma estar sempre entre o Sujeito e o Verbo principal , seus amigos de infância. Com eles ao seu redor ele se sente mais à vontade. Como o will se interessa muito pelos dias que virão, ama fazer perguntas aos outros sobre o futuro, aliás ele gosta tanto de perguntar que quando surge a oportunidade de questionar o futuro ele assume a frente de tudo e aparece antes de seus amigos de infância, o Sujeito e o Verbo principal. Esse é o Will, um cara ligado no futuro e muito prestativo!

Swine Flu - What is influenza?

Influenza, commonly called "the flu," is an illness caused by RNA viruses that infect the respiratory tract of many animals, birds, and humans. In most people, the infection results in the person getting fever, cough, headache, and malaise (tired, no energy); some people also may develop a sore throat, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. The majority of individuals has symptoms for about one to two weeks and then recovers with no problems. However, compared with most other viral respiratory infections, such as the common cold, influenza (flu) infection can cause a more severe illness with a mortality rate (death rate) of about 0.1% of people who are infected with the virus.

Experts recommend that people who suspect that they have H1N1 infection stay home and avoid contact with other people. The only time you should leave home is to access medical care if needed. That said, it is important to remember that the vast majority of flu cases (even H1N1 cases) produce only a mild illness for which doctor's visits and/or antiviral drugs are not necessary. So, the presence of cough and fever in an individual who is not at high risk for complications and who does not have warning signs of a medical emergency should not be a reason to visit an ER.

How to conquer a woman?

Hint #1: Respect is everything.
To seduce women have one thing always in mind: Treat every woman with esteem and respect all instances in which she says “no” Never overstep your boundaries.
Hint #2: Be confident.
Radiate confidence and satisfaction. In particular this will succeed if your own life - without women - is succesful and meaningful. If you succeed at this and are not dependent on your partner as your “main focus of your life” you will appear more confident and independent. Women like successful men who also have other passions than just the opposite sex. Loneliness, under any circumstance, is never a good basis for flirting. Because of this, it is very important to have male friends.
Hint #3: Don’t stress about the perfect conversation starter.
There is no perfect introduction for a conversation. Whatever you use to initiate a chat with a woman could be optimal for any given moment. Just don’t use dumb pick-up lines or cheesy phrases like “Hey, did heaven lose an angel? Ah, must have lost two of them because when I look down I can see them in your shirt” Try to trigger a reaction that is like “Why not?” from the woman. In this case, a vague answer can be considered a success since she at least didn’t say “no” and your options are still open.
Hint #4: You only get one shot.
In any case act as if you’ll only get one chance to speak to this woman. If you don’t approach her, she’s as good as gone. You will likely never see that woman again. Dare to try, there is nothing to lose (Suggestion: “Excuse me for interrupting but I would never forgive myself if I let you go out of my life without even saying “Hello” to you”). With questions, you can only improve your chances. Make it clear to her how important it is to speak to a woman if there is only one opportunity!
Hint #5: Don’t be desperate.
NEVER act desperate or helpless. NEVER whimper, beg or nag for attention or sex. If you do, you’re putting yourself in the position of appearing like a little child and you will undermine not only your self esteem, but also the perception the woman has of you.

Let’s not pretend that things will change if we keep doing the same things. A crisis can be a real blessing to any person, to any nation. For all crises bring progress. To speak about a crisis is to promote it. Not to speak about it is to exalt conformism. Let us work hard instead. Let us stop, once and for all, the menacing crisis that represents the tragedy of not being willing to overcome it.

Substantivos Contáveis e Incontáveis

Os Substantivos contáveis (Countable Nouns): São aqueles substantivos que admitem plural. Ex: Cat, Cats, Child, Children, Person, People... e por ai vai... Estes Substantivos são a maioria... quase todos...

Os Substantivos Incontáveis (Uncountable Nouns): São os que não podem ser contados sem o auxilio de uma outra palavra. Ex: Money (dinheiro), Water (água), Gold (ouro), Sand (areia), Cheese(queijo), advice (Conselho), Information (informação)...

É natural que você não tenha entendido neste primeiro momento, mas apenas pense nisto:

É correto dizer: "Eu estou rico porque agora tenho 10 dinheiros!"? NÃOOOOO!!!
Por que? porque 10 dinheiros não existe... para contar o dinheiro você precisará de notas ou cédulas... Ex: Estou rico porque agora tenho 10 cédulas de 100 reais! Então nós concluimos com isto que a palavra dinheiro é um substantivo Incontável...

Outro exemplo:

Estou com tanta sede que precisaria de 3 águas para matar ela toda... Errado! porque a agua é incontável, porém os copos de agua são contáveis. Ex: Estou com tanta sede que precisaria de 3 copos de água para matar toda ela... Correto!! Veja que agora as coisas fazem sentido...
Ou seja, O dinheiro é incontável, mas as cédulas de dinheiros são... A areia é incontável, mas os grãos de areia ou sacos de areia são... embora seja loucura querer contar grãos de areia!!!! hehe...
Conselho (advice) e Informação (information) são contáveis no Português, porém no Inglês são Incontáveis... Conseguiu diferenciar um do outro???? Substantivos Contáveis e Incontáveis??? Espero que sim...

Auxiliary Verbs – Will – Quando Usar?

O Will é usado no inglês para dar o sentido ao verbo de Futuro Simples. Ou seja, para jogar um verbo para o futuro apenas use o “will” antes do verbo e pronto.

Ex: I will study english tomorrow. = Eu estudarei inglês amanhã
Ex: Will you study for the test? = Você estudará para o teste?
Ex: We will try to visit our friends. = Nós vamos tentar visitar nossos amigos.

Obs: Perceba que para fazer uma pergunta a Will e o sujeito trocam de lugar e o will inicia a pergunta. Para criar uma frase negativa no futuro use o Will not ou Won't:

Ex: You won't travel with me next year. (Você não viajará comigo no próximo ano)
Ex: She will not buy these clothes. (Ela não comprará estas roupas)
